“Disparate times call for disparate measures.”

  • Mackenzie Wark

Recently I wrote two Buddhist themed responses to events in the media: The Red Hat Rorshach Test about the Covington Catholic controversy and When Swearing is Skillful about the comments congresswoman Rashida Tlaib made after she was sworn in.

I also wrote a piece for local Canadian media in January, Why I No Longer Donate To The Jewish National Fund , which is about the allegations that JNF Canada has been funding projects linked to a foreign military (the IDF) as well as having been involved in ethnic cleansing, building illegal settlements, and discriminatory land policies.

Is protesting injustice worthwhile? You probably weren’t wondering what the Talmud says about it, but here you go anyway: The Talmud on the Responsibility to Protest.

Before Christmas I also wrote on the perceived connections between Buddhism and Pessimism: Buddhism According To Pessimism.
