Disparations 13
“Disparate times call for disparate measures.”
- Mackenzie Wark
I haven’t been writing nearly as much as usual since last summer. Part of that has been a book I finished writing (more on that soon I hope). I also started a new teaching job last July. I have written a few pieces though, including one I’m particularly proud of, Spinoza: Philosophy In The Time of Covid-19 which asks what Spinoza would advise us about responding to this global pandemic.
I also wrote an article for Tricycle on The Body In Buddhadharma: Three Perspective looking at Theravadin, Zen and Tibetan perspectives on the spiritual use of the body.
You may have missed The Buddhist Roots of Hathayoga (Fall 2019) on which I share some surprising academic research on where the asanas and subtle body practices of the Yoga tradition first came from. I wrote about Leonard Cohen’s very Buddhist video: New Leonard Cohen Music Video Is Very Buddhist (Nov 2019) and resistance to racism and genocide in Myanmar: A White Rose for Myanmar (Dec 2019).
I am just putting the finishing touches on a new article for Tricycle which I’ll share with you soon, and who knows, I might do the big reveal on my book (unless the tides turn and it sinks without a trace into the nebulous ether of the never-published).
May you be well.
